There is a buggy on site to transport people over the mulch paths where it is necessary, including spectators with special needs. Let us know in advance if you think you may need it. The paths at Trees Adventure are covered with mulched wood and some of the paths are steep. Trees Adventure is in the process of building accessible toilets. In the meantime there is one slightly wider toilet available up a steep path. There are accessible toilets within one kilometre of Trees Adventure beside Puffing Billy, at the corner of Old Monbulk Rd and Belgrave-Hallam Rd, Belgrave. There is 2 viewing platforms for spectators.
Participants are required to wear a harness, climb slopes and steps. Participants need to be able to use the safety systems as trained and follow instructions. You can check out the course in advance if you prefer!
Participants on the green courses (age 5-9) are not required to manipulate karabiners. They will be required to step up onto a platform, climb a ramp and then take part in the challenges which include swing bridge, walk a plank 14cm wide and 15 metres long, stepping across onto wooden poles 12-15cm diameter, crawl across a net, place a pulley on a flying fox and hold the pulley as instructed, walk on a moving bridge, walk on a wire foot bridge, hold onto wooden poles suspeded with foot holds, crawl through a barrel.
Participants over the age of 10 are also able to take part on the green course. People with special needs who are unable to manipulate the karabiner system for the Blue, Red, and Black courses, may still take part on this course. The lifeline which the karabiners are attached to is approximately one metre high.
Trees Adventure needs to be sure people completing on the blue, red and black courses can safely manipulate the karabiners. People need to be able to follow instruction and not a safety danger to others. Participants need to go through a training session and demonstrate capability of manipulating karabiners. This requires climbing a small ladder to get to the course and taking part on the training course.
People with special needs who are physicaly able to participate on the blue and red courses but who are unable to manipulate the karabiners are still able to participate if they have two participating supervisers who passed the training and are able to manipulate their karabiners.
The blue course requires people to use a pulley attached to their harness and put it on the lifeline and use the flying fox as guided. The blue course involves crawling over a net, a moving wire to step along, a wooden bridge with missing planks, walking along a thin plan 15cm, stepping on poles coming out of the ground, approx 15cm in diameter and an aerial skateboard. There are a number of flying foxes that require putting a pulley on a life line and holding the pulley as instructed.
The red and black courses are progressively harder and require participants to increasingly be able to hold their own body weight.
Trees Adventure welcomes participants with special needs.
IMPORTANT – Remember, space in the trees is limited, which makes reserving a harness essential. Please telephone us before you make the drive. 9752 5354 or contact@treesadventure.com.au
